1st PLACE WINNER

Amanda Wilmsen

New York University School of Law, Spring 2019

Amanda Wilmsen will graduate from NYU School of Law in the spring of 2019. She decided to attend law school to become an advocate for the rights of workers, and has pursued experiences in law school related to that goal. She has volunteered and interned with a variety of organizations and firms that fight for workers’ rights, including Make the Road New York, the New York Legal Assistance Group, the Labor Bureau of the New York State Attorney General’s Office, Eisner & Dictor, and Sanford Heisler Sharp. At NYU, she has been a Staff Editor of the Review of Law and Social Change, President of the Unemployment Action Center, and a board member of Law Students for Economic Justice and the Public Interest Law Students Association. She graduated cum laude from Pomona College in 2012 with a major in Anthropology and minors in Environmental Analysis and Spanish. In her free time, she reads novels and hangs out with her cat, Baz.

Aaron Bibb

University of Wisconsin Law School, May 2019

Aaron Bibb is in his third year of law school at the University of Wisconsin, where he is an Articles Editor of the Wisconsin Law Review. During law school, he has worked as a law clerk at Hawks Quindel, S.C., focusing on employee-side labor and employment law. He has also worked as a research assistant for Professor Miriam Seifter and as a clinical law student in the Neighborhood Law Clinic. He holds an M.A. from the University of Wisconsin and a B.A. from Tennessee Technological University in English literature. Prior to law school, he worked for the American Federation of Teachers-Wisconsin for seven years, most recently as its Communications Director. Following law school, he will clerk for the Hon. James D. Peterson in the Western District of Wisconsin, after which he will join Hawks Quindel, S.C. as an associate attorney. He is married to Elizabeth Wheeler, a drafting attorney with the Wisconsin Legislative Reference Bureau, with whom he has two children, James and Hannah.

Megan Hurd

University of Cincinnati College of Law, May 2019

Megan is a third-year law student at the University of Cincinnati College of Law. Megan grew up in Centerville, Ohio. She received her B.A. in Public Affairs and Political Science, summa cum laude, from The Ohio State University. During her time in law school, Megan has worked for Cincinnati Public Schools in the Office of General Counsel, the Hon. Susan J. Dlott in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, and Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP. She also serves as the Notes and Comments Chair for the University of Cincinnati Law Review.
